Music at First Congregational
Our Chancel Choir sings in worship most Sundays from the Sunday after Labor Day until the Sunday prior to Memorial Day. Rehearsals are held in the sanctuary at 9:00 AM on Sundays. Our goal is to use music to enhance the message and experience of each worship service. All are welcome to join us! The choir provides an opportunity for all friends and members to use their musical gifts to enhance our worship service. During the summer months, a variety of soloists and small groups provide music for worship. One Sunday it may be one of our talented youth playing her guitar and singing or it might be a local Bluegrass Band singing and tapping their toes.
Our Choir Director, Ruth Striegel has been directing the choir since 1995. Ruth selects a wide range of music for both the choir and the congregation to sing and enjoy. Pamela McClain our organist and accompanist plays our 1957 Reuter organ with 3 manuals and 23 ranks and our 5’ 8” Weinbach grand piano. And frequently members stay in their seats to hear the beautiful last strains of the postlude from the lovely organ before heading out to Fellowship Hall for coffee.
