Peanut Butter and Jelly Team

Mission

  • We seek to work as a congregation with other community church partners to provide food for hungry persons in the community.

Two hands exchanging a white bowl in an outdoor setting, with several other bowls and containers visible in the background.

Activity

  • The PB&J sack lunch program started 20 years ago when a member worried that unhoused folks were getting a meal on Sunday but didn’t have anything to eat after that.

  • We receive contributions of bottled water, bread, peanut butter, jelly, fruit chews and granola bars from church members which support the program. Every Sunday morning, a small crew gathers in the kitchen to make sandwiches and assemble a sack lunches that are distributed to the unhoused at Immaculate Conception downtown.

  • The Immaculate Conception volunteers receive donated sack lunches from First Congregational and other volunteers and then distribute them to people in need.
